A new children's centre for the special education facilities of the Rems-Murr district and an extension to the Fröbel School are to be built on the Rainbrunnen educational campus.
The two twisted cubes of the design take up the existing directions and interweave with exciting outdoor spaces to form a new campus; the granularity allows it to be embedded in the existing structure.
The outdoor space is characterised by a low level of surface sealing, which has a positive impact on the microclimate. The schoolyard and the open spaces of the children's centre form the central element.
The buildings create a transparent, inviting, barrier-free and friendly atmosphere. The aim is to create good orientation, exciting visual connections and optimal ventilation and lighting in the building. The differentiation of the interior space enables a multi-layered school day.
