Reorganisation W&W Areal Ludwigsburg

The area is primarily characterized by the tower of the W&W Group. Each of the existing building blocks has different qualities that need to be transformed into an urban living and working quarter.Steimle Architekten opted for a cautious approach to the existing buildings, particularly in view of the challenging task of sustainable construction. The gray energy of the structures is bound in the existing buildings. New buildings are added as lightweight timber constructions. The green, lively courtyard becomes a sponge city and thus combines social qualities and sustainable urban planning.

We are happy about one of the three first prizes, and congratulations to the winners of the second round.

"District sports hall enters the home straight" writes the Swabian newspaper Wangen in its March 5, 2024 edition. "Everyone" is on the construction site to complete the timber hybrid building, the first building to follow the district's own guidelines for sustainable construction, by the time of the State Garden Show in April. Factors such as the use of recycled concrete, utilization of the surrounding wood resources, green roofs and construction without PVC are being taken into account.

journey through time

For the article in "wettbewerbe aktuell", we only have to go back to the January issue of 2024. However, the content of the article travels right back to the beginning of Steimle Architeken. From single-family homes to the first major project, the article takes us on a "journey through time" to the beginnings of the office, using the Stadtwerke Tübingen as an example. Under the motto "Journey through time", wettbewerbe aktuell repeatedly selects historical competitions and uses them to tell the stories of the architecture firms behind them.

Our many years as architects have passed so quickly that we now cringe when the word "historic" is mentioned in connection with our own office. With our young team, the claim to formulate contemporary, innovative architecture and the office flanked by long-established greats in the Stuttgart architectural landscape, the understanding of our own office is - let's say - youthful. But a reflective look at the last few years, with many projects completed and in planning, many competitions and almost fifty employees in Stuttgart and Überlingen, shows us that we have probably grown out of our infancy a few years ago.
Thanks for having us in this format with the Stadtwerke Tübingen competition. We are excited to see what the next "journey through time" will show us.

Accomandation for the costume harbour Mainz

Steimle Architekten have received an accomandation for their design at Mainz Zollhafen.
With their forty-five degree rotated floor plans, the five urban building blocks on the waterfront are oriented away from their neighbors and towards the water and the sun. The rotated rooms also provide a view of nature from the rear rooms and enable high-quality living on the Rhine.
