We are celebrating 5000 days of Steimle Architekten today. 5000 days are gone, when Thomas Steimle opened the doors at Marktplatz 5 in Stuttgart. Meanwhile Christine Steimle is also a partner, a second office in Überlingen, lake of constance opened, and the Stuttgart office moved to Marktplatz 6 and 10.
Since 5000 days architects at Steimle Architekten are working at present on around thirdy projects. 5000 days with emotions and hapiness for architecture. To the next 5000 days!

construction progress SWR Mannheim Ludwigshafen

Here the line becomes the house! The new SWR Studio Mannheim - Ludwigshafen records further milestones in its completion. After the building has already been standing for a few weeks with a finished shell, the interior construction continues to progress. The staircase, clearly designed with white railings and exposed concrete, already give an idea of the clean structures of the new studio. The heated and cooled ceiling has already been installed on the office floors and the raised floor has been partially laid. But the exterior of the studio is also gradually approaching its final state. The white pilaster strips are currently being installed on the facade.

In five minute updates you can see the progress on the swr website. While not every five minute a real change is seeable, sometimes it is intressted to watch out here for an update.

2nd Prize for the residential building Weierhof

2023, 2nd Prize.
For the new redidentials at the Weierhof boarding school in Bolanden, Steimle Architects propose an additional longhouse, which subordinate to the historical existing building. The propotions an the roof of the new building complets the Weierhof ensemble.

Flat roof please!

The visitor center of the Bauhaus World Heritage Site in Bernau was published on Baunetzwissen under the category Flat roof. The seemingly floating flat roof made of insulating concrete is design-defining for the visitor pavilion. The roof structure ensures a durable and robust construction. The 18 cm thick reinforced concrete slab is highly load-bearing, while the embedded steel bracket per column axis provides additional safety. Interested in more detailed information? Big demolition work in Gunzenhausen, Bavaria

Demolition work is in process at the construction site for the district office in Gunzenhausen. So far, the bored pile walls have been completed along the sides of the street and some of the existing buildings have already been demolished. Since June 19, 2023, Bahnhofstraße, which borders the construction site to the west, has been completely closed for four to five weeks and the 6 level silo building will be break off. The silo building was originally built around 1679 by Margrave Johann Friedrich as a margravial brewery, and was used in between as a malt house. After the demolition of the silo building, one last building, the former youth hostel, will be built back. A heavy-duty wall will be installed to stabilize the existing basement and shoring will be completed along the neighbours properties to the north and east. After completion of the demolition, the new building is expected to start in the new year.

DAM Prize nominee for HLC Ludwigsburg and the rescue coordination centre in Fulda

"Since 2007, the German Architecture Museum (DAM) has annually awarded outstanding buildings with the DAM Prize for Architecture in Germany. Since 2017, the prize has been awarded in close collaboration with JUNG as an exclusive cooperation partner. For the DAM Prize for Architecture in Germany, the museum nominates - since 2016 also taking into account suggestions from the architectural chambers and regional experts - 100 remarkable buildings or ensembles. A jury of experts then selects the 25 or so buildings on the shortlist from among the nominations. In an intensive discussion, four to five shortlisted buildings are selected from these. At a second jury meeting, these are toured and finally the prize-winning project is selected.

The announcement of the winner, the award ceremony and the opening of an exhibition on the buildings always take place at the end of January at the Deutsches Architekturmuseum in Frankfurt am Main[...].

revue of city walk

On the 25th of June the citywalk from the IBA'27 Festival #1, which was also enlisted on our webpage, allure a lot of architects and cityintressts to walk together through stuttgart from the Königstraße, over Arnulf Klettplatz to the Schlossgarten. After the walk, the intressts listen to a discussion about the changing of city centres in the interimusage "studio amore" in the Schlossgarten Hotel, which will be restaurated by the LBBW with Steimle Architekten.

welcome inbetween ! IBA' 27 festival #1

Under the title "welcome inbetween ! - Arnulf-Klettplatz, Königstraße, Schlossgarten", the IBA'27 festival#1 organized an citywalk trough the centre of stuttgart. Afterwards, in the old Schlossgarten Hotel, now popular as "Studio Amore", Wolfgang Riehle, Irene Armbruster and Thomas Steimle will discuss about the roll of city centres in the future, mixed uses and public qualities. All interessts are welcome to join the discussion at 7 o'clock at studio amore.

roofing ceremony at the technical university in nuernberg

On Friday, 16th june, the topping-out ceremony was celebrated in Nuremberg at the University of Applied Sciences. For the ceremony also Markus Soeder, the bavarian minister came and give a speech about the scienceland bavaria where the university of applied science in nuernberg is a part of it.
The university is splitted in three parts. The Ohm research institute, the buisness incubator and flexible laboratories and workspaces.
The workshop process for the technical university was conducted at the end of 2019. Since then, the university has been in the planning stage. Completion of the university building, which will be named the "Innovation Centre Ohm" after Georg Simon Ohm, is planned for 2024.

"new splendor for Stuttgart icon"

Under the title "new splendor for Stuttgart icon", an article appeared in "Immobilienmanager" at the beginning of June about the renovation of the Stuttgart Schlosshotel. Together with the landscape architecture office Planstatt Senner, Steimle Architekten won the competition to renovate the facade and revitalize the first floor zones. Honorary president of the Baden-Württemberg Chamber of Architects and chairman of the building commission appointed by LBBW for the Schlossgartenquartier Wolfgang Riehle expressed his response:
"The result of this competition confirms our conviction that the identity-creating design quality of the Hotel am Schlossgarten can form the basis for a further life cycle while retaining its essential architectural features."
